Flip Flop

I’m sometimes a boring
predictable
sleeping snail.
But other times
I’m an exciting
mysterious alien
zooming through space,
or a yeti
hiding
from me behind a rock.

Sometimes I’m a
dull
still
rock
chained to a chair.
But sometimes I’m
a pencil
like the one
that jumped
out of my hand
and onto the floor,
a gymnast.

Some people think I’m weird,
a delirious dodo
in that deadly desert sun.
But I’m really normal,
like an overjoyed penguin
skidding
on my stomach
into the whispering
waving
water.

Sometimes I’m as
bright,
smart
as a spotlight
reflecting on the sun.
Other times I’m as
dumb
as Donald Duck
after being hit
on the noggin
ten times.
