Beating Heart

As I follow this trail of shadows and blood my heartbeats like an African drum
boom-boom.

I start running and on the third stride I'm sailing on my feet.

I begin to rise in the sky and fly like a hawk on the prowl.

My heart's still beating boom-boom and I start loosing my drive.

I begin to eat my wings to make myself human again.

My wings are in bits and pieces and I start falling back to earth.

I walk in pools of blood and see demons in trees singing "La la la laia."

I feel anger, fury, and disgust.

I pull myself from the blood and start squeezing my essence
from the large hole in my chest and the demons disappear.

The blood turns to salt and burns my open wounds.

My heart continues to beat boom-boom.

The burning sensation sizzles like bacon frying on the stove ssss-sssss.

I need to find that pounding sound that resembles a marching band.

I then hear a clink and my body freezes like ice.

My arms and legs crumble and it all turns black.

My heart's beating is slowed boom-boom-boom boom-boom boom.

Then suddenly I see light and the booms intensify.

When I open my eyes I find myself in a placle with no pain, tears,
or death.

I have awoken in paradise.

Boom-boom bring.
