Musical
Scribbles (grades 6-12) |
||||||||||
Often used as a warm-up for more complex poetry/art projects, this project uses music to inspire gestural, abstract drawing....or scribbles. Inspired by artists such as Cy Twombly, Kenneth Patchen, and Robert Rauschenberg, this activity exposes students to a variety of music (Mozart, tangos, afro-pop) and encourages them to use different medium (pastel, colored pencils, markers) to create beautiful scribbles. Then, they brainstorm language and choose a single word or phrase to insert into their picture. These examples are from Fenton High School and Blackhawk Middle School in Bensenville, IL. |
